Welcome to Twin City Bridge Club

Twin City Bridge Club provides ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games, open to the public. We also promote the game of bridge through education and outreach.

All of our games start at 12:45 p.m.; we ask players to check in by 12:35. There is a small fee to play. Please pre-arrange your partnerships for these games; singles are not guaranteed a partner at any session. Players new to our games may request help finding partners via our email address: twincitybridge@gmail.com.

Our Monday skill-building session is a place to practice and improve at duplicate bridge. Players may ask bidding and play questions of the director or "coach of the day". Rules and etiquette are explained as appropriate. Life Masters at this game are asked to play with non-Life-Master partners, and to maintain a helpful demeanor. Note: for special events listed below, the Monday game becomes a traditional open game, at which all partnerships are welcome and coaching is not available.

Our Thursday session is an open duplicate game. All bridge players are welcome.

Berrien Youth Bridge at Upton Middle School is our community service project. This trial project introduced mini-bridge to 6th-graders in an after-school club setting. It was a great success. We're planning now for the follow-up in the next school year. Helpers are welcome: contact us at twincitybridge@gmail.com to get involved.

About the Bridge Instructors

Alina Grier, a Silver Life Master, is an experienced bridge teacher, accredited by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). She is a proficient tournament player who is a favorite coach for many of our players.

Bruce Sokol, a Silver Life Master, is also a Club Director, and co-manager of Twin City Bridge. He is a proficient tournament bridge player who has taught many of our advancing players how to compete at the table.

Carol Purdy, a ne'er-do-well, snuck into the ACBL's Teacher Accreditation Program recently, and schmoozed her way to accreditation. Years ago, Carol somehow managed to become a certified Club Director (they're still scratching their heads in Memphis over that one!), and probably stole the Life Master card she carries (check your wallet...maybe it's yours). She co-manages Twin City Bridge Club, which has survived nevertheless. As for tournament experience: they usually lock the doors and turn off the lights when they see her coming. You won't find Carol's name on our adult class offerings, because she's busy misleading the youth of Berrien County through our school bridge program, along with a handful of volunteers (or should we say abettors). If the middle school dropout rate suddenly skyrockets, Carol wants you to know she is totally irresponsible.

Dick Purdy is an ACBL-accredited bridge teacher and Life Master. He enjoys coaching newer players who want to improve their game.
